Phineas + Ferb Cake

So, this cake was for my step-son's 9th birthday, he wanted a skateboarding themed party. I had been planning to do the half pipe all along but then decided to make Phineas & Ferb characters instead of just random skaters. The cake is yellow, with chocolate butter icing and modeling chocolate instead of fondant. The characters are also modeling chocolate.

This is my first time making and using modeling chocolate. I'm very happy with the figures, not as happy with the cake part. I learned that chocolate butter icing does not like to spread as nicely as regular butter icing, the chocolate is ornery. I also learned that modeling chocolate melts FAST. There was a lot of add a detail, run to the freezer, add a detail, run to the freezer...it was good times. With the exception of Perry the Platypus, I built the characters around lollipop sticks, but I probably should have used something to make Phineas' skateboard a little more stable as it was a little heavy and melty due to the lack of support, BUT it did not fall apart. One of Ferb's legs did fall off when I was putting him on the cake, so it looks a little weird the way I "repaired" it. All in all, I'm happy with it. I can only get better from here ^_^
